Role
Operations team members are responsible for the smooth running of existing systems and improvements/adjustments/expansion of systems to support growing demand.
As part of the Operations team, you will be tasked with maintenance and growth of a packet network supporting all residential services of a Triple-play operator and business data services.
This role is customer facing, but will not require you to accept calls directly from customers. You will be required to be on-call.
Requirements Mandatory
- BA/BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- 2 years experience in operation of mission-critical servers and software systems
- Understanding of basic principles of packet networking (Ethernet, IP)
- Good understanding of IT security concepts
- Linux or *BSD
- Scripting – Shell, PHP, Perl or Python
- Core network protocols – DNS, NTP, HTTP, SMTP
- Experience with maintenance of systems based on open-source server software – Apache, MySQL, PostgreSQL, ISC BIND, ISC NTPD, Postfix, etc.
- Ability to analyze server and software issues using standard troubleshooting tools
- Communication experience with suppliers of equipment, equipment support services, software, software support services, collocation services
